Advanced Jitter workshop

Wesley Smith of Cycling’74 will be holding a one-week advanced Jitter workshop at BEK in February 2014. Jitter is the video and 3D graphics component of Max. This workshop will focus on advanced creative work with Jitter and OpenGL, including GLSL programming using gen, physical modelling, and more.

Modality workshop at BEK

Modality is a network of electronic musicians and developers from six nations. They are gathered now 4 days in Bergen for updating and further development. The purpose is to improve the facilitation of artistic processes through coordinated programming and to share and develop new musical tools.

BEK is involved in the light festival in Solund in November 2013. Anne Marthe Dyvi and HC Gilje are participating artists and have contributed to the development of the format.

This must be the place

Re: place is an art research project 2013-14 investigating (relationships between) place, time and memory as manifested in artistic works exploring image, sound, text – or combinations of these, in collaboration between KHIB, Oslo Academy of Art (KHIO) and The Grieg Academy. Trond Lossius is engaged by KHIB as project leader, and Anne Marthe Dyvi of BEK is among the contributing artists researchers. The main artistic outcome is a pair of exhibitions in Sandnes in the fall 2013.

Workshop – Introduction to OpenMusic

OpenMusic is a freely available graphical program for computer-aided composition. With many tools and services for working with musical structures, OpenMusic is well-suited for work or musical composition and analysis.

BEK offers a one-week workshop with Anders Vinjar. The workshop will provide an introduction to composition in OpenMusic for composers and creative musicians, combining joint presentations and more individual support for each participant and their projects.

Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May, Bergen Improstorband invites you to an instrument building workshop with Johannes Bergmark at BEK. The goal is to create your own instrument to use at concerts on Tuesday 7 May at the Library, Østre and Cafe Opera.

Workshop: Field recordings and surround sound

Sourround sound is used for film production, games, electronic music, video and sound installations and in sound design for stage. This workshop provides a practical and creative introduction to the topics for beginners, with a particular emphasis on equipment available at BEK and software developed at BEK.

First Found, Then Lost workshop

EDGE OF WRONG 2013 presents first found, then lost, a residency / tour from Oslo via Bergen to Reykjavik, with the South African artist Josh Ginsburg and the Norwegian musician Morten Minothi Kristiansen. BEK is one of several supporters of the project and organize a workshop with a performance on Tuesday 8 October.

Workshop “Archangelica” (a sound sculpture)

A small team has been formed to make an outdoor sound sculpture. The working title of the project is “Archangelica”. The creation of the sounds will be based on rain hitting the metal surface of the sculpture. A workshop took place in Fitjar on the 25th and the 26th of January.
