Lydverkeri (Soundworks)

For the opening of Stavanger Konserthus, Ole Hamre has been commisioned to compose a new work that will be performed outdoor. Soloists are Arve Henriksen (trumpet), Jan Heinke (vocals) and Ståle Storløkken (keyboards). In addition veteran boats on the harbor joins in as part of the composition.

The software and server solution for communication with the boats has been developed at BEK.

Nathan Wolek

BEK is pleased to welcome Nathan Wolek as a Fulbright Scholar. Nathan will be a guest researcher at BEK for 6 months commencing August 1 2012. During the stay his research will be focusing on granular synthesis, and more specifically on porting The Granular Toolkit, a package for creating granular synthesis effects within Max, to Jamoma.

Jamoma workshops at Art.On.Wires

Art.On.Wires is an annual event in Oslo for researchers, makers, creative professionals, artists, and practitioneers. For one week in May they create a temporary laboratory to explore and construct new technology for artistic expression in a relaxed and innovative atmosphere. This years festival will include several workshops relating to Jamoma.

Max meetup

The last Max meetup before the summer will be on June 8th. This is a monthly opportunity for artists using Max to come together and share ideas and patches and get help with problems they are stuck at.

Introduction to Max

BEK offers a one-week introductory workshop to the software Max. Max is an intuitive graphical environment for real-time processing of all kinds of media (sound, video, MIDI, light, sensors and robotics), and can be used for music, sound art, video, installations, works for stage and in interaction design. Instructor is Trond Lossius.

OpenFrameworks Workshop at BEK

From Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th of December, BEK hosts a workshop in OpenFrameworks; a programming language develloped and applied in interactive artworks. OpenFrameworks is a powerful open source tool designed to simplify building creative applications, it has rapidly become one of the tools of choice for a new era of creative designers.

Jamoma Audio Workshop

Four of the Jamoma developers are meeting in Kansas City for a one week workshop focusing on audio processing. As part of the program developers will be giving artist talks at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and an improvisational concert featuring the artists and programmers behind Jamoma at Charlotte Street Foundation.

Sachiko Hayashi: Artist Talk

Saturday 4th at 14:00 there will be an artist talk by Sachiko Hayashi at BEK. Sachiko was Artist in Residency at USF Verftet in 2010. Now she’s back in Bergen, so please, welcome to C. Sundtsgt. 55, 8. floor for an interesting hour.
Sunday 5th Sachiko plays with MASH at Landmark.

Torill Johannessen @ Witte de With

Witte de With presents two events in May: The opening of the group exhibition The End of Money and the first two lectures in the series To Tell The Truth. Norwegian artist Torill Johannessen participates with her newest work, developed with the contribution from BEK associates.

Integra workshop

For two days BEK is hosting a workshop where Dag Henning Kalvøy of NOTAM is introducing musicians of the BIT20 Ensemble to music technology and the music performance software developed as part of the Integra project.
