Jamoma Web Site

The Jamoma web site has been long overdue for an overhaul. Over Christmas extensive development has been carried out. The new web site consolidate information, tutorials and a news section.

Jamoma is a set of software frameworks for real-tme media processing in artistic and creative projects.

Modality Toolkit developement

Modality is a loose collaboration between both developers and users of SuperCollider, an environment and programming language for real time audio synthesis and algorithmic composition. In spring 2013 BEK will host a developer workshop. Prior to this, BEK contributes to a SuperCollider HID-update.

Paper on automated testing in Jamoma at SMC 2012

The paper An Automated Testing Suite for Computer Music Environments by Nils Peters , Trond Lossius & Tim Place will be presented at Sound and Music Computing Conference 2012 in Copenhagen.

Software development benefits from systematic testing with respect to implementation, optimization, and maintenance. The paper reports on how automated testing is implemented and used for Jamoma to test C++ code as well as Max externals and patches.

Urmakarens hjarte

The theater production Urmakarens hjarte (The Heart of the Watchmaker) is an adventurous thriller for youngsters inspired by Norwegian folk mythology and modern fantasy literature.

Trond Lossius from BEK has contributed to the project thorugh the development of a custom 16-channel live audio spatialisation system, utilizing Jamoma.

Nonlocality by Toril Johannessen, Oslo and Dusseldorf

The exhibition Nonlocality, which is actually two exhibitions, revolves around how time and place are variables that change according to technological and scientific developments. Conflicting ways of understanding the world and duality are underlying themes, and the two shows are twin exhibitions running parallel to each other. Technical solutions for one of the works, Mean Time, have been developed by freelancers in collaboration with BEK.

the Movement I-V

The Movement I-V is an iPad app by Espen Sommer Eide that explores the various possible movements of the hand and the fingers in sound manipulation. Included are a set of sounds by the artist. You can also upload your own samples.

Jamoma 0.5.3

A new version of Jamoma has been released, and for the first time in a year, a Windows installer is available as well, thanks to recent work by Adrian Gierakowski.

Jamoma 0.5.2 released

The Jamoma team is pleased to announce the release of the Jamoma 0.5.2 implementation for Max/MSP. This second revision of Jamoma 0.5 has been in the works for the past 6 months and brings a lot of bug fixes and new features from the exchanges and efforts of all the Jamoma community members. Jamoma workshop

BEK is happy to host this years Jamoma development workshop with 10 developers from France, United States and Norway. The main focus will be on implementations issues for the upcoming 0.6 version, automated testing prosedures, integration between Jamoma and other platforms, and how to move forward the coming years. Of cource, the importance of intense late night discussions will not be neglected.

Studio Alog

This week the newly refreshed soundstudio at Bek (temporarily renamed “Studio Alog”), plays host to experimental band Alog, working on new material for an upcoming album on the Rune Grammofon label.
