Espen Sommer Eide & Signe Lidén:
Vertical Studies: Acoustic shadows and boundary reflections

During Borealis, Signe Lidén and Espen Sommer Eide present a new work utilizing a series of mobile meteorological music instruments and performative microphones. Using Fjell festning as a place, they investigate how sound is shaped by, and resonates in various environments.

The work is developed at BEK, and commissioned by Sonic Acts and Dark Ecology.

Gisle Martens Meyer: There is no Here, Here

Facing us on stage: a musician. He plays electronica. Works his machines like a hacker. But we can see him much better on screen. There, reality is different, and constantly changing.

The performance is co-produced by BEK, with BIT Teatergarasjen. A version was also shown at Oktoberdans 2016.

Eide Bøen and Sletteland: The Table Turns

Did you miss The Table Turns during Oktoberdans 2016, or want to see the performance again? On January 28 og 19 you have the chance to see it at Wrap!

Karen Eide Bøen and Roar Sletteland have created a dance performance for four turntables and a dancer, where they examine the relationship between body, sound, turntables and room. The Table Turns is about freedom and power on the dance floor. It’s about LPs, stored movement, solidified vibrations and sound that revived matter.

Hvoslef and Hosseini: Wings and Chains

Wings and Chains is a collaboration between the composer Mansoor Hosseini and the visual artist Line Hvoslef, inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s piece Firebird. The music is complimented by a video projection and a solo dancer on the stage, and reflects the fairytale of the ballet.

Hvoslef’s video is filmed with BEK’s equipment, and is edited with counseling by and at BEK.

When I am talking to you I am not talking to you, by Jingyi Wang

Using a series of virtual images, platforms, passive and active work of art, the audience in this performance gets the opportunity to explore physical and virtual presence. The performance is also displayed in two “rooms”, namely a classic black box, a theater, and a white cube, a gallery, where the audience itself determines its time and location in front of the work.

BEK has been advisory in developing the project and has set up the audio playback system.
