Publication on commision by composer Alwynne Pritchard

Don’t touch me, you don’t know where I’ve been was a commision by BEK from composer Alwynne Pritchard, premiered in 2008.

The 7th issue of the Sensuous knowledge publication series on artistic research, is dedicated to two texts discussing the work, by the composer herself and Roar Sletteland, former director at BEK.

An installation version of the work will be presented at Solstrand as part of the program for the 2009 Sensuous knowledge conference.

For An Epidemic Resistance

Jacqueline Hoang Nguyen is currently Artist-in-Residence at USF Verftet. During her residency, she is developing at BEK a thirty-channel dynamic installation entitled For An Epidemic Resistance, which will be presented at Galleri Pictura / Skånska konstmuseum as their official contribution to the music and art festival Full Pull;Kontra ’09.

Moviestar Filmhuis Den Haag

Moviestar is an interactive installation where the visitor plays the mainrole. The installation blends live recording from visitors, that will find themselves on a real lifesize filmset amongst cameras, lights and a bluescreen studio.

Voices: Sound installation by Alf Bugge Gjerstad

The work is based on recordings of the local Suldal dialect and functions as a sonic post card. The semantic meaning becomes subordinate to the sounding qualities of the words and dialect.

Piksel

Piksel has been a yearly event since 2003, starting as a workshop for developers of open-source software, with a particular emphasis on software for real-time manipulation of video and sound. Gradually Piksel has grown into a hybrid festival and workshop, meandering the boarders between artistic and technical development.

Kirsten Reese – Angelic Streamers

A 28 channel amplifier, built by Roar Sletteland at BEK i 2008, is used for the sound installation in Johanneskirken in Bergen by Kirsten Reese. The installation is part of a series of sound installation presented by Ny musikk.
