Pines & Powerlines

The MA Degree Show in Fine Art opens friday the 8th of April at Bergen Kunsthall. Some of the exhibitors has worked with their projects at BEK, and BEK provides the exhibition with some of the equipment.

Stian Remvik @ Borggården USF

An interactive animation video is presented by BEK as our current contribution to the Borggården exhibition space at USF Veftet. The animation “HYSJ” is made by Stian Remvik, and responds to the amount of noice in the room by hushing at you.

“On Balancing” – an exhibiton by Ellen Røed and Christian Blom

As the earth rotates around its own axis, ROM8, and actually everything else in Bergen moves in space at a speed of 669 km per hour.

Free admission. At night, one can see the exhibition from the street.

Kjersti Sundlands work at USF

BEK presents artworks at Verftet, this time the video installation, ”Enduring portrait”, by Kjersti Sundland. The video installation “Enduring portrait” shows a woman who gradually becomes 40 years older. The length of the aging process is depending on the exhibition location and display format.

Håkonshallen is celebrating its 750th aniversary this year, and BEK have been asked to participate in the making of the celebration.

SA2010 videoscreening program – first Sofia, now Newcastle

This spring, ISIS Arts, BEK, Maur Prosjekter og Galleri 3,14 curated a video screening program with artists from South Africa. The screening was a part of this summer’s exhibition Contemporary Artists from South Africa, and was also excepted at the Digital Art Festival in Sofia 13. – 17. September. Now, in December, ISIS Arts is presenting the program in the Eldon Square Shopping Centre in Newcastle.

Odd Mirrors at Barnas Hus

Maria Øy Lojo and Maia Urstad contributes with the installation Odd Mirrors at Barnas Kulturhus’ christmas production Aurora Julialis. One of the rooms in the house will be devoted to a sound and light.

Opens Saturday 27. at 13.00 at Kalmargaten 6. Bring the kids, and the child in you! Open weekdays to Kindergardens and Schools at 9.45 – 11.45, open to the public on Saturdays at 13.30 – 15.30

B[ek]-Open

Saturday and Sunday BEK will open it’s doors to show a little bit of what we’ve been up to lately. All project rooms will be filled with sound, video and electronics that has been developed at BEK.

If you walk your way to the top floor at C. Sundtsgt. 55, you will be rewarded with an extra treat!!!

The studios at BEK has been in frequent use recently by artists preparing their work for the great BG01 – exhibition at Bergen Art Museum. TelArt by Bjørnar Habbestad and Jørgen Larsson is back “remixed”, Eva Ljosvoll presents her new video work In Midair, Trond Lossius has been refining his LMW partnership with the help of BEK’s new field recording equipment, and Maia Urstad has re-mounted Sound Barrier.
