MUU FOR EARS

MUU FOR EARS is a CD series of sound art and experimental music, released by the Finish Artists Association MUU. MUU FOR EARS 9 explores the sound art and experimental music scenes in Finland and Norway, and includes contributions by Marieke Verbiesen, Hemmelig Tempo and Trond Lossius from Bergen.

To Be Continued…

The sound artist Signe Lidén contributes to To Be Continued…, an un-interrupted 24 hour sonic marathon on the occation of the World Tuberculosis Day, organized and streamed online by www.stazioneditopolo.it.

BEK assists in streaming the contribution by Signe Lidén.

Khairos at Den Norske Opera og Ballett in Oslo

Composer Knut Vaage and librettist Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen’s recently written work Khairos is a modern on & offshore opera about a man with a hyper-sensitivity to sound.

Thorolf Thuestad makes the sound design, and a lot of the sound work is done in BEK’s studio.

Sound in space – workshop and concert

The use of multichannel surround sound is by now commonly used in a wide range of applications, including film production, gaming, electronic music, video and sound installations and works for stage.

This event starts out with a number of hands-on presentations offering an introduction to work on spatial sound. The event concludes with a concert presenting works by Ruben Sverre Gjertsen and Hans-Gunter Lock.

Claudio Forlini : Film and Sound at 3,14

Thursday 20 October Claudio Forlini presents his new short film Vampyr, and plays drone-progressions on his purpose-built sound machine _Entropia. Both projects are co-produced by BEK and realized in our studio- and project spaces.

Improvisation by Bergen Barokk

The current sound installation by Trond Lossius at Håkonshallen is based on recordings of the early music ensemble Bergen Barokk. During Bergen Medival Music Days Bergen Barokk responds to the installation with an improvisation at the hall, playing with and against the sound of the installation.

In Project Room 1, Thorolf Thuestad and HC Gilje have made preparations for Knut Vaage’s new composition for trombone and waterfall. The piece will be performed in Rosendal 12. August.

BEK 01.08.2011–11.08.2011

Rad# 2

The 11th of June BEK arrange the second edition of the Rad series in Våge, Kvinnherad. The event takes place in the composer Knut Vaage´s cabin. The cabin is a place where Knut Vaage compose his music, and have space for thought. In Rad#2 we have invited a selection of musicians/artists to improvise together, present a reading of Ragnvald Vaages poetry and serve food.
