Asbjørn Blokkum Flø : Analogue I – X

Asbjørn Blokkum Flø is currently working on a new BEK-commissioned music piece. He describes his work as follows: -Analogique IX is a 60 minute long electronic music piece where I try to get back to the electronic music’s musical core through a limitation in materials and methods. In connection with this work I will investigate new artistic concepts and compositional techniques._

Seminar on sound design in stage productions

Following Transiteatret’s performance Ressentiment, BEK will organise a seminar on sound design in stage productions. The sound design in Ressentiment was developed in collaboration with BEK, and we want to present the results at this seminar.

Moviestar at Stedelijk Museum s-Hertogenbosch

Moviestar is an interactive installation by Marieke Verbiesen & Neeltje Sprengers. The installation moulds old and new media together in order to create a reallife moving filmset. Classic 16mm film, animation, robotics, sound and motiontracking are used to simulate a real life filmset where visitors play the main role.

Workshop : Open invitation

Tuesday 28 September – Friday 1st October BEK invites musicians, programmers and composers to a four-day workshop focusing on the software MODALITY. International capabilities in this area will lead the work. The workshop is open to participants familiar with SuperCollider. Participation is free.

Jeff Carey – Chop Chop

BEK has commisioned a music piece from american composer and musician Jeff Carey. This multichannel work is beeing developed in our production studio over a period from July to October. Chop Chop is performed as part of the Ekko Festival at Landmark 20. October.

Ghost Architectures

Jeremy Welsh and Trond Lossius is participating at the
6th International Conference on Small Island Cultures
Guernsey, June 22 — 25 (2010).

They will be presenting Ghost Architecture, an audio-visual performance based on material recorded around the sites of 2nd. world war German fortifications on islands off the west coast of Norway, near Bergen.

Residency: James Webb

The South African artist James Webb has started his residency period at AiR Bergen. His stay also is connected to an exhibition at Galleri 3,14, where his sound installation “Prayer” will be one of the art works shown.

Paper on artistic research at ICMC 2010

The paper Unruhige Räume – Spatial Electroacoustic Composition Through a Collaborative Artistic Research Process by Pascal Baltazar (GMEA, Fr) and Bjørnar Habbestad (BEK, No) is presented at the International Computer Music Conference ICMC 2010 in New York.
