The sculpture «Fyrtårn for reisande» (Beacon for travelers) by Geir S. Hjetland is unveiled in Balestrand by Minister of Local Gouvernment and Regional Development Liv Signe Navarseter on October 20. The sculpture incorporates sound and light, and the sound installation is made by Geir Berstad Sande. BEK has assisted him with advice and supervision on sound development and programming.

Elin Øyen Vister is the festival artist at Tromsø kunstforening for the Imsomnia festival, presenting the exhibition Soundscape Røst for Insomnia. The exhibition consists of two sound installations, and for the opening Øyen Vister’s quartet WeDoMagic (electronics, bass, clarinett and cello) play live in one of the installations.

Stille Dag is a documentary that utilizes timelapse photography to follow the filmmaker’s mother for 24 hours. The audio consists of two conversations between the filmmaker and his mother.

Bergen Center for Electronic Arts have curated an exhibition for Ephemeral Sustainability, a conference about presenting, documenting, collecting and archiving electronic/soundbased/ephemeral art in Bergen. The conference is produced/programmed and hosted by Lydgalleriet.

The world premiere for the award-winning telematic opera Auksalaq will take place on October 29th, to be performed simultaneously between venues in the Phillips Collection in Washington DC; the Lu Magnus Gallery in New York City; the University of Alaska Museum of the North; the Grieg Academy in Bergen, Norway; McGill University in Montreal, Quebec; Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and the University of Virginia. BEK contributes with equipment.

”MUSEUM II”, commisioned by Ny Musikk Kristiansand was performed at the Edge Of Wrong Festival in Kristiansand 22. September, and will be performed at the Sound Silo (Avgarde) 13. October in Bergen. BEK supports the project with equipment for documentation.

A twittering, metallic feedback construction is being exhibited at Prøverommet October 1. It has been developed at BEK as the first part of An Index of Collisions, a cross-disciplinary project relating to theater, installation and concert. Contributing artists are Hild Borchgrevink, Tor Kristian Liseth, Øystein Nesheim, Roar Sletteland, Thorolf Thuestad and Øyvind Ådland.

For the past two weeks Elin Øyen Vister has been in residency at BEK, preparing for her sound installation “Soundscape Røst for Insomnia”, soon to be presented at Tromsø kunstforening. Benjamin Thigpen makes music for loudspeakers: electroacoustic works, pieces for live computer performance, interactive music for computer and acoustic instrument(s) and computer improvisation. Benjamin Thigpen is currently artist in residency at USF.
